Sony VAIO VGC-LT15E Desktop PC/TV All-In-One (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5250, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium) by Jimston

Christmas 2008, what a season!

Having been given mostly cash gifts this past Christmas, I was uncertain exactly what I should purchase, or even if I should purchase anything, especially in these turbulent economic times. By nature I am not a materialistic person, so I had to ask myself if I should stash my 'booty' away like I'd done in years gone by, or splurge on myself for once? Decisions, decisions!

As the first few days of 2009 crept by, a little voice in the back of my mind kept reminding me of the fact that another home PC would surely be a most handy appliance. Not only would it be handy, the voice reminded me, but given the fact my life circumstance finds me preparing legal documents for elderly family members (and others), and given the fact that the other machines in my home are in constant use, purchasing a new computer was almost a 'no-brainer' decision.

Now that I had made the decision to make my purchase, I was reminded of a small problem: a lack of available home work-space. As it turns out, my 1500 square foot home currently accommodates 5 people, 4 animals, 4 cars, and all the associated 'stuff' that go with. Again, in the 'no-brainer' category, came an obvious solution: a laptop computer.

So, I started window-shopping for a laptop. With respect to minimum features I was willing to settle on, I had made up my mind in advance: the machine I was searching for would be in the $500 range, and minimally have built in WIFI, an optical drive, and Windows XP. My desire for and 'XP' machine was driven mostly by comments I'd heard from others, with respect to how much the VISTA was 'terrible'.

The very next Sunday, the local newspaper was, as usual, littered with sale tabs from what seemed to be every store in town. As I casually scanned through this mountain of mayhem, my attention was naturally caught by any and all stores advertising laptop computers. Sifting through the available options, it quickly became clear to me that my desire for a Windows XP machine was a fleeting one; the only machine I found available offering XP was the 'ACER ASPIRE ONE' machine. Although the 'ACER ASPIRE ONE' machine was unique in many ways, including having Windows XP installed, it did not offer the optical drive I wanted, nor was the screen of such a size that I could use. A cute machine to be sure, just not for me.

Scanning the ads, my eye caught a sale price on an ACER Extensa 4420 machine, offered through Office Depot. The machine offered everything I wanted, the only thing that made me apprehensive was the fact it came with VISTA home premium pre-installed. The machine retailed for $499, plus had a $50 mail-in rebate, which made the price right for me. My trip to Office Depot was short and deliberate (I don't like to shop). After enduring the sales persons 'push' to sell me an extended warranty, service package, etc. etc.,, and after repeatedly telling the sales person, “no, thanks!”, I plopped down the base price, plus tax, totaling $537, and headed home with my new laptop. As my new machine and I have become more and more acquainted, I now realize what a bargain I have purchased.

For starters, this machine has a Dual Layer combination CD/DVD drive, an AMD Turion 2.0 GHZ 64×2 processor, 3 gig of RAM (upgradeable to 4 gig), and a 250 GIG Hard Drive. Couple this with built-in infra-red, built-in WIFI, a PCMCIA slot, an SD/multi card reader port, 4 USB ports, a firewire port, a built-in web cam, a built-in modem, 3-hour battery life, and a 14.1″ screen, this unit rocks! After removing the machine from the box and charging the battery, I was using it in minutes, and was effortlessly able to connect to my security-enabled Windows XP wireless network, as well as my old HP server-based printer.

For me, the concerns about using/learning VISTA were mostly unfounded. So far, I've been able to install a foreign language translation program designed for Windows 98 with no problem, and tweek the OS features and functional setting to work the way I want. As far as system stability, I've experienced no problems. I do find the placement of files to be somewhat perplexing, but this is to be expected, and is not much different from the learning curve required when I moved from using a Windows 98 machine to a Windows XP machine, i.e, and to coin a phrase, 'same thing, only different'! Worth mentioning: I am a 'semi-computer geek' kind of guy, which helps, and also I purchased a copy of a book called Windows Vista Secrets, which I highly recommend.

Although I would rate this machine as a GREAT machine, there are some (mostly minor) annoyances and areas that could use improvement, as outlined here:

1) The machine did not come with any reinstallation/recovery CD's/DVD's (unlike my Dell). When I contacted ACER about having a VISTA reinstallation DVD sent to me, I was informed they would be happy to do this, for the price of $50. Worth noting: The machine DOES have the ability to create backup reinstallation disks, a much cheaper alternative. I suggest creating a set of these EARLY on into your new laptop experience.

2) The machine has built-in Blue Tooth capability, but the hardware was not included.

3) The built-in speakers are weak.

4) The keyboard feels 'toy-like' (at least in comparison to other Laptops I have owned/operated).

5) The built-in Web Cam is just that: by design the provided software does not allow video recording to the hard-drive. Worth noting: A free downloadable program from NCH software seamlessly solves this problem.

Summary: I recommend this unit to anyone who wants a lot of bang for a little dough!

Firefox is a free, open source browser that has become a popular alternative to Microsoft's bug-ridden Internet Explorer. Since Mozilla makes it easy to customize and tweak Firefox, lots of “how to” performance tips are circulating on the Internet. After testing some of the more popular Firefox performance tweaks, here are a few that really will speed up your browsing experience.

The “about:config” Window

Most Firefox speed tweaks are done in the “about:config” window, which lists advanced configuration and system settings for Firefox. Run Firefox then type “about:config” (without quotes) in the address bar, then hit “Enter.”

Play it Safe

Speed tweaks and modifications can mess up Firefox if they are not performed correctly. Before making permanent changes to Firefox, write down the original settings so you can revert back to them if you break something.

Speed Up Page Rendering Time in Firefox

By default Firefox waits 250 milliseconds before rendering a web page. To decrease page rendering time to zero, right-click anywhere in the about:config window, then select “New” and then “Integer.” Name the integer “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” (remember to omit the quotes), enter a value of “0″ and then click “OK.”

Increase the Number of Page Requests in Firefox

Normally browsers make a single request for a web page. Enabling pipelining allows Firefox to make several requests at once, which dramatically speeds up page loading time (depending on the server).

Type “pipelining” in the about:config filter search bar then locate “network.http.pipelining” in the results. Right click on the entry, then click “Toggle” to change the value to “True.”

Now locate “network.http.proxy.pipelining” in the search results. Right click on the entry, then click “Toggle” to change its value to “True.”

Next find “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” in the search results, right click on the entry, then select “Modify.” Change the value to “10″ then click “OK.”

Increase the Number of Connections in Firefox

This setting controls the number of connections that Firefox is allowed to make at one time. Typically, faster connections like cable or DSL require a higher value, while slower connections like dial-up require a lower value. Experiment to find the best setting for your type of connection.

Type “max-connections” in the filter search bar. Find “network.http.max-connections” in the search results and right-click on the entry. Set the value to “40″ then click “OK.”

Cause Firefox to Release System RAM

After Firefox has been minimized for a period of time, it continues to hold system memory (RAM) that cannot be used by other programs or applications. This tweak will cause Firefox to only use around 10MB of RAM while it is minimized.

Right-click anywhere in the about:config window, select “New” and then “Boolean.” Name the entry “config.trim_on_minimize” then set the value to “True.” If the entry already exists in your version of Firefox, right-click on the setting and click “Toggle” to change the value to “True.”

Clear the Firefox Cache and Increase Privacy

If you are low on disk space, you can set Firefox to automatically clear its cache after every session. Click on “Tools” then “Options,” and then check “Always clear my private data when I close Firefox.” Not only does this free up disk space, it also keeps prying eyes from seeing your browsing history.

Restart Firefox

Restart Firefox to enable the changes. If you find some of the tweaks made things worse, reapply the original settings you wrote down as you applied the tweaks.

The Mozilla website lists more Firefox tweaks that you can experiment with. Keep in mind that Internet connection speed, available physical and virtual memory, and especially browsing habits all play a role in the way any Internet browser performs.

Tattoo Designs: Hawaiian Flower

Hawaii is well-known for its fun filled beaches, eye-catching sceneries, prosperous cultures and tourist magnetisms. Above and beyond all of these, Hawaii is also branded for its bright and multi-colored Hawaiian flowers which are drawn and customized into the striking Hawaiian flower tattoo designs which are awfully fashionable among female tattoo devotees.

There are so much appealing Hawaiian flowers that you can choose from, picking one concrete design can be far easier by knowing what sort of shade and meaning you want your Hawaiian flower tattoo designs to have.

In my opinion, I love the hibiscus because of its figure and how excellent it looks when prepared on a female tattoo fan. It emits a predominantly feminine image of the particular woman carrying the tattoo. And the Hibiscus flower is also in fact the state flower of Hawaii.

Moreover plainly using a hibiscus or any other Hawaiian flower for your tattoo designs; you can get a little bit more creative and add some more details to it. For example, you can make use of a beach as the background or maybe a mountain. There is not any limitation to what you can do to a tattoo design only if you are contented with it.

Further favored selections of flower tattoo design are the Orchid tattoo design and the beautiful Plumeria. Both are seriously trendy designs that you can think about if you are looking for dazzling and rich flower tattoos.

There are plenty of Hawaiian flower tattoos you can choose from online however be cautious of using free of charge tattoo designs. Because the majority of these tattoo designs are free, folk tend to abuse it and spread it all over the internet. That makes the tattoo design loses its exclusiveness and not a soul likes to have the similar tattoo as masses of others do them.

One more issue with free tattoo designs is the quality of the designs. These free tattoo designs are usually low quality tattoo designs that you need to keep away from using. Using such free designs might have an effect on how your tattoo looks like when it's done.

And needless to emphasize, a low quality tattoo design will end up as a worthless tattoo , you've got to shun using free tattoo designs if you don't wish to ruin your tattoo.

More to the point, when you are done picking a preferred tattoo design, you need to look for a reputable and pro tattoo artist to assist you get the tattoo done. These are all essential stuffs that you would like to look out for and follow if you'd like your tattoo to turn out just right.

Work out for a health

Visit how to lower cholesterol naturally or to reduce cholesterol even Visit lower cholesterol naturally

I was on a low carb diet for a year, and lost 50 pounds that had crept onto my waistline over time. The low carb diet becomes very easy after the first week. Hunger, indicating the start of ketosis, eventually wanes. Ketosis is desirable, since it leads to weight loss.

Testing for ketosis is recommended, but I didn't want to get little test strips to use for testing three times a day. I'm more of a low tech person, and opted to have faith that the ow carb diet would work. Oftentimes, ketosis causes bad breath, but chewing gum is a no-no in the low carb diet. I simply used cardamom, a spice that's available at the grocery store. It's in a pod that can be opened for the little seeds inside. They are palatable, and sweeten the breath.

After a while the appetite decreases, which makes this diet a breeze. Soon it becomes part of your lifestyle. As the timetable progresses, the dieter can gradually allow more carbs, and can test out how many carbs can be ingested before the weight starts to come back.

As described by the late Dr. Adkins, it is a way of life rather than a diet. Once committed to keeping weight down, this diet is considered to be something that goes on for life. I've talked to people who manipulate this diet day by day, but they are not very successful at losing the pounds or the inches. The bottom line is, even after the desired weight is lost, the diet is not over. Carbs should be restricted for life.

According to Dr. Adkins, the reason cholesterol develops is because of the mixing of carbs and fat. When carbs are eliminated, so is cholesterol. This diet has been controversial, and I am no expert on fat or cholesterol. All I know is the diet worked for me, along with a steady regimen of exercise.

I had lost so much weight, my brother-in-law, who is a doctor, scoffed me. He said that women my age need a little weight in order to store estrogen. I had gone down to a size seven. When I look back at photos, I must agree that I looked a little gaunt.

He also advised that I need to be sure I get plenty of fiber. To be sure I get enough fiber, I use a low carb diet drink that has fiber. It's called Advant-edge, and it is put out by a company named EAS, and can be found at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club.

This diet drink has the full amount of needed protein in a meal, unlike other popular products that skimp on the protein. It also provides the minimum daily vitamin requirement, and a few amino acids. I like to use it for breakfast, as this meal is very important to avoid a blood sugar drop. Since I don't like to eat that early, I simply drink breakfast instead.

Later, I deliberately put some weight back on, and went to a roomy size nine. I feel energetic, and happy about my figure. The energy keeps me active, and I have maintained the same size for three years, now.

I didn't feel deprived while losing weight, although it seemed slow to get results. Being patient, and realizing this is one of the good things worth waiting for got me through. One of the other good features is that I didn't need to give up dairy products after the first few weeks. Everyone has different sensitivities, and weight gain triggers. But for me, the low carb diet is best.

Televisions have moved from being a simple source of entertainment, to a main stream of family interaction and information. Seeing the importance of televisions in today's society, it is imperative that your TV reflects both your individual style and technological needs. While there have been amazing improvements and advancements in the television industry, there are some TV's that truly stand out from all the rest. One of these televisions is the Panasonic 42″ 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV, Model: TH-42PZ77U.

This television is both amazing because of appearance and because of the massive amount of features Panasonic has put into it. Panasonic is known for having stunning televisions, and this one is no different. If you are looking for a television that will continuously astonish you and all of your friends, than this is the TV for you. But what exactly makes this television so great?

One of the features that will both save you money and time is the built-in HDTV Tuner. How this features saves you money and time is because all you have in order to start enjoying world-class high-definition programming is an HD-capable antenna. Once you attach this antenna to the television, you will begin to immediately receive HD-programming on your television, absolutely free.

Thus saving you the time and money of having to purchase HD-programming through a digital provider, however, if you still want to enjoy thousands of digital channels, than all you have to do is attach a set top box to your television and pay a monthly subscription fee through the carrier of your choice.

Another feature that makes this television truly amazing is the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, which will let you feel like you are actually watching a movie in the theaters. Having a true cinematic experience is very important for today's television viewers, and this HDTV is more than willing to give you that same experience. There are a total of 4,096 shades of gradation within this television, which gives the images on the screen an extremely smooth and vivid characteristic that is normally unachievable by televisions. This HDTV is truly unique in both image and sound.

Speaking of sound quality, how does the sound system on this television compare to its images? With two built-in 10-watt speakers, you will be able enjoy engaging sound quality through the virtual surround sound system. Now, with this television, you won't have to purchase a surround sound system, because you have one already built-in. It seems that this television seeks only to provide world-class entertainment, both visually and sound wise.

With other features that include various inputs and outputs, you are able to easily connect other devices to your television that will only enhance your viewing experience. Of course, this television comes complete with the V-Chip pre-installed. The V-Chip allows you to monitor and choose what is viewable on your television. This is a perfect feature if you have children, or a husband, and you want to make sure that only appropriate programs are viewed.

In the past, Panasonic has produced some of the world's greatest televisions. And this is ever-more true with the production of this 42″ Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV. However, many Panasonic televisions are extremely expensive, thus narrowing the buying public. Yet, this television is incredibly priced at an average of $1,800.00, thus making it affordable for any budget. Now you don't have to wish you could have a world-class television, because with this TV you are able to receive all of the features of high-end HDTV's, without having to pay the high-end price.

Divine stories on flower by a florist in Singapore

4 月 13th, 2010 by jaimecontreras1986

Visit florist shop here or delivery flowers here

It will be Christmas soon and you're nearly broke. Or it's your friends' (Mom's, Grandmother's, Aunt, neighbor) birthday and you really wanted to give her a present, but the gift baskets in the shops are way out of your budget. But don't worry, gift baskets are really easy to make, and won't break the Bank. This year you're going to save money!

The first trip should be the Dime Store or a Thrift Shop. Or start going to garage-sales. Because you are going to need baskets. The price should be cheap; bargain over it if necessary. ($1-$2 max. for a basket; less if possible). It doesn't matter if it looks a bit ugly; you can always paint over it with acrylic paint.

The other thing you're going to need is small pieces of fabric. Most fabric-stores have bins with off-cuts that they sell for next to nothing. The third thing is: feathers, beads, old earrings, (perhaps you have only one left from a pair?) small craft boxes, wheat, scented pot-pourri, small candles, bath crystals, soaps, small tins with a nice picture on it, ribbon.

Now it's time to put everything together, so you better take the sewing machine out.

Picture 1: Black-gold and red gift basket.

I painted the basket black and varnished it. A clear varnish is optional; I already had it, but if you have to buy it especially for the one gift basket it will add up. So buy it only if you're planning on doing more craft-projects that will require varnish.

I love this fabric; the small gold flowers on the black background make it look classy. For the sachet: cut 2 pieces fabric approx. 6 inches wide and 10 inches long. Sew one 10 inch side together. Fold and sew top. Then sew other 2 sides. Fill with scented pot pouri or bath crystals. Place a nice ribbon on the top. This basket is for Christmas, so I chose a red/gold one.

Then there's the microwaveable heating pad.

Cut 2 pieces of fabric of 8 inches x 8 inches. Sew together, leaving a bit open to pour the wheat in. Fill up for about 80%. I also added some lavender-leaves for fragrance. Then sew this up as well; by hand.

Find the middle by distributing the wheat inside the bag.Put your finger right there.Take 1 small bead and go right through with the needle; adding another small bead on the back. Knot the ends of the thread. Add a small bow and sew this on.

The small trinket box was painted red with acrylic paint and to stay with the colors, I added a gold strip. You could glue an earring on the lid to make it look even better.

I wrapped the other gifts in gold wrapping paper to give it a Christmas-look. This will be complimented with wrapping it in cellophane (available from Florist) and adding a beautiful bow on top. (see article on how to make these unique eye catchers: click here

Picture 2:

This is basically the same story as above. The shining fabric in aqua makes it look really special.

Almost any printed fabric will do; any color you like. The fabric-colors of the sachets will set the tone; stick to these and you'll create a wonderful looking basket. Flowers and a white basket for the romantic; stripes for the sports-type. You could even make gift-baskets for babies; if in doubt of the gender make a yellow/white or soft green/white one. For older kids( 5-6 years old) a brightly red colored basket filled with felt-pens, a coloring book, a bubble-blowing kit and such things will be welcome gifts on their birthday. It might cost you as little as $5 to please a 5 year old with a basket that looks cheerful.

For other ideas, color combinations see my article about how to make baskets for men:click here

Some ideas to put in baskets for women:

Small notebook, a ball point, small book about friendship, chocolates, coasters, soap, loofah. Remember, it takes only takes two colors to make a basket. Wrap all the items that don't match in gold or silver wrapping paper, and add a nice ribbon.

These baskets can be made all year round and far ahead of time. (like Christmas). Tip: shop all year round in Dime-Stores for small soaps, bags of potpourri, small candles, small photo-frames, face cloths (rolled up and tied with a ribbon makes a good back ground filler.) etc. Perhaps better to spend a couple of dollars a week on these throughout the year, than having to buy everything at once.(I'm thinking of Christmas, when you might have to buy for a lot of people at the same time). Tip: Take only 2 colors to make a basket; add gold or silver if you want to. Tip: A good “filler” for the bottom is potpourri in a matching color.
