Let the madness begin. Beginning March 4, 2010 the 8 team NEC tournament is set to kick off. As in most mid major conferences, generally only one team from the North East Conference is awarded the opportunity to play in the 2010 NCAA tournament. This year figures to be no different. The NEC tournament appears to be highly competitive this year with several teams in the mix to take the title but no one team particularly standing out. The home court advantage should prove to be pivotal in securing first round wins.

First Round Matchups

- Quinnipiac looks to maintain their perfect record at home when they host 8th seeded Monmouth. Quinnipiac (12-0) should prove to be the heavy favorite having just beat the Hawks on February 25th by 19 points. Monmouth has to face the tall challenge of knocking off the top seeded Bobcats. The two teams split their two earlier meetings this year. Look for Quinnipiac to close this one out early in the contest.

- One of the hottest teams in the NEC right now is Mount St. Mary’s. Coming off 10 straight wins within the NEC conference with 9 out of 10 of those wins coming by double digits. After starting off poorly within the NEC, the Mountaineers have been next to unstoppable since. They will be looking to keep the momentum going when they host #6 seeded Saint Francis (Penn.).

- Elsewhere Robert Morris will host Central Connecticut State. This should prove to be a blowout in favor of Robert Morris considering they’ve already beat the Blue Devils on their home court earlier this season. In addition, the Colonials have the big game experience that is crucial during early March having played #1 ranked team in the country Syracuse to open the season as well road games against Pittsburgh and Penn State.

- In a relatively even matchup across the board # 5 seeded Fairleigh Dickenson will face 4th seeded Long Island University. The two teams faced off in mid February with LIU winning by a slim margin. Look for Fairleigh Dickenson to bounce back and avenge their earlier loss.

So I met this girl, let’s call her Sarah, last semester at the university. We really hit it off. It turns out that coincidentally we had just about the exact same schedule and saw each other every day. We talked/text’d a lot, , were inseparable study buddies, and were basically becoming pretty good friends. In fact we were spending so much time that I started to develop slight feelings for her. One problem; we both were/are in a relationship.

Anyways, the semester ended and I told her that I was really glad that we got to meet each other and become friends and would miss her a lot over summer. Well she said she felt the same way and that we could hang out during the summer. So, after a couple of weeks of trying to get together we finally met up over summer. I wanted to make a day of it but she gave me some spheel about having summer course and not wanting to stay out too late so we just had lunch and hung at her place for a while. I was supposed to come back to “take a dip in her pool” (literally, she had a pool out back) but that never happened, i was too rapped up in my blog that evening. That was about it for the entire summer, but I got really busy with my bathroom design blog as did she with work.

Skip to Now – Well, The new semester has started and even though we have a couple of classes together we barely speak to one another except for when walking to our next class when her sis is with us. Also I should mention she has a twin sister, lets call Amy, and THIS time it just so happens that me and Amy have almost the exact same schedules. So Amy and I are seeing each other a lot and hanging out. The problem is I try to talk to Sarah but she almost never responds to my texts or voice messages anymore. I feel like somewhere our friendship had a disconnect and I have no idea what’s going on. Before semester started she was so excited to be sharing classes together and hanging out….now, notta. Then again in hindsight I never did make myself to appear as enthused (though I was)

I think deep down we were starting to make a connection as more than just friends but for whatever reasons (we are both in relationships?) it never happened. I’m fine with that, but I’m starting to feel like I did or said something wrong or maybe it’s something I didn’t say or do…?? I don’t know how to bring it to her attention without it coming off the wrong way and making me seem like some obsessive friend who is starving for attention…or maybe that’s the problem that I don’t give her enough….?? I dunno, and I’m at a total lost. I have no idea what to do.

Panasonic Jungle is one of the most ambitious projects of recent years, perhaps the entire last luster: the Japanese giant aims to penetrate a market that seemed closed to a very few elected to the portable video game console. With the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS – of various generations – as well as smartphones become more and more entertaining, it seemed that the comparison had closed, but Panasonic comes out with a console in its infancy, but with major points of interest

Fingerprint recognition is the most usual security feature that laptops are offering today. In 2006, Lenovo incorporated a facial recognition system on their laptops that takes a snapshot of the user and digitally maps it so that it will become the laptop’s password. Though not a new technology, the Japanese firm NEC is introducing facial recognition on their laptops and claims that their system is more accurate than their competitor’s products. NEC calls their new security feature, “NeoFace” which is a combination of eye zone extraction and facial recognition to help identify the user of the laptop.

Originally, the “NeoFace” technology was developed by NEC for security applications like prison management, corporate security or border control so that fingerprint recognition could be eliminated. Just last July, NEC’s facial recognition technology was used in an automated border control system in the Hong Kong-Shenzhen border to identify people while inside their cars. The system reads a car’s license plate and then compares the driver’s face with the registered driver’s ID.

NEC is now introducing the “NeoFace” on their LaVie C and Lavie L series of laptops. The program works when a user configures a profile with three photographs of their face. When the user logs-in, the 2 mega pixel camera on the laptop will scan their facial features.

The system then uses a matching method to determine the identity of the person logging-in. According to NEC, “Neoface” can perform accurate matching even when the user wears glasses, hats, had a new haircut or facial hair, or wears a different facial expression. NEC however adds that the ability to distinguish between identical twins is still speculative.

Atsushi Sato, head researcher at NEC explains, “NeoFace uses a technology called ‘adaptive region mixed matching,’ which focuses on ’segment regions’ with a high degree of similarity for matching. Other makers’ products make judgments based on a number of combined characteristics, such as the distance between the eyes and the nose, or the nose and the mouth. But this creates a problem, because if even one of these segments is missing, the accuracy drops dramatically.”

Sato adds that Neoface divides the input image and the registered image into small segments and focuses only on the segments that are highly similar. According to Sato, this will enable NeoFace to achieve higher authentication accuracy than their competitor’s products even if the user’s face is hidden by a mask or sunglasses.

According to Kazuyori Miyaoka of NEC’s Business Promotion Department, NEC is currently researching other forms of authentication methods like using the shape of the ears, patterns of blood vessels on the back of the hand, a persons’ walk, smell, DNA, and even keystroke habits when using a keyboard.

The LaVie C and LaVie L will be available in the Japanese market in September with prices ranging from ¥150,000 to ¥310,000.

Asus MS238H Notebook Review, Specs

The exclusive Splendid Video Intelligence Technology optimizes video performance and image fidelity by enhancing color, brightness, contrast, and sharpness. 5 preset video modes (Scenery, Theater, Game, Night View, and Standard) can be selected via a hotkey.

The MS238H works as a secondary screen for your notebook; and has been ergonomically designed to be level with your eyes and notebook screen. It doubles your productivity with a dual screen display via a simple HDMI or VGA cable connection.

Specifications

See? We told you; the N82Jv doesn’t really break new ground from a platform standpoint. This laptop does, however, have an unusually fast graphics processor for an Optimus system. Nvidia’s GeForce GT 335M, which is based on the 40-nm GT215 GPU, packs 72 stream processors alongside a gig of DDR3 RAM, and it pushes bits through a 128-bit memory interface. You might have seen the GT215 in its other role as the GeForce GT 240, which spars with AMD’s Radeon HD 5670 in entry-level desktops. (The GT 240 has more SPs and much quicker memory than the GT 335M, though.)

The N82Jv is also blessed with a 2.4GHz Core i5-450M processor, which incorporates both Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading functionality. The i5-450M has a top Turbo frequency of 2.66GHz, although when not particularly busy, you might see it hover well below the 2GHz mark. Two full-featured Westmere cores running at full tilt are something to be reckoned with, though, especially in a mobile system.

Let’s not forget the USB 3.0 port, which is backed by an NEC controller. We didn’t take the laptop apart to look at the markings on that NEC chip, but we’d wager it’s the same UPD720200 silicon we’re seeing on virtually all USB 3.0 motherboards lately. It’s a little surprising to see Asus go the extra mile to offer USB 3.0 and then turn around and neglect to provide Bluetooth connectivity, however.

Externally, the N82Jv is a somewhat bulky affair, but Asus hasn’t forgone refinement. The machine sports a textured metallic lid with an interesting bronze finish, while the palm rest is mercifully matte. Too bad about all those palm rest stickers, though. I gave Toshiba a hard time for littering its Satellite T235D ultraportable with stickers last month, and the N82Jv actually has more.

I’ve got to give Asus props for making the N82Jv feel solid, sturdy, and not needlessly large. Part of that impression has to do with the metallic lid, no doubt about it, but the build quality seems top notch all around. The thing doesn’t look half bad, either, even if it’s not my personal cup of tea. (Regulars might know I have a thing for brushed aluminum.)

There are very few desktop computers on the market that have been specifically designed for the professional gamer. If you are in the market for a desktop computer that will enhance how you interact and perform with your games, then you will definitely want to view the following computer. The Acer Aspire Predator Gaming Desktop, Model: AG7710-U7790A has been specifically developed with unique technologies for the avid gamer. The processor and graphics card will boost your gaming experience. You will rarely see a desktop that has been as well developed and planned as this one. You can purchase this unique Acer Aspire Predator Desktop at any major electronics retailer as well as through online stores.

The hard drive for this Acer Aspire Predator Desktop features a total capacity of 1TB, which is 1,000GB. With a redesigned chassis and a bundle of special features, the Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 14-inch laptop is well worth the reasonable price. Clocking it at under $500 at most retail locations, the L645D-S4036 is one of the more affordable notebook PCs out there. It’s also one of the best in terms of providing bang for your buck.

The 14-inch wide-screen HD TruBrite LED-Backlit display uses less power than standard displays on similar laptops. Featuring 1366×768 resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio, the display allows for dramatic visuals while conserving power.

Inside, the Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 delivers the goods with a 1.8 GHz AMD Phenom II P820 triple-core processor and a AMD M880G Chipset. This means you get to enjoy all the movies, music and games you can imagine with incredible clarity, detail and dazzling speed. You would also be able to enjoy the included Windows 7 OS in all its glory.

The laptop’s 320 GB SATA hard drive will hold an endless array of files, photos and songs with plenty of room left over for HD movies and video files. Don’t forget the games, either, as the L645D-S4036 is the perfect sleek machine for running your favorites.

The ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics card delivers power-efficient performance when it comes to graphics processing. Offering vibrant images and the ability to run graphics-heavy programs quickly and quietly, the graphics card makes this laptop a versatile laptop that would perform just as well whether you plan to use it for work or play.

Like other Toshiba laptops, the Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 comes with Wireless-N Wi-Fi connectivity. The use of 802.11n-compatible routers allows for twice the range as expected from the older 802.11b/g network connectivity.

If you are currently in the market for an improved and redesigned chassis, a brilliant 14-inch wide-screen display, a fantastic set of power goodies under the hood, and excellent wireless range, the Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 is your affordable laptop of choice.

password. I can't boot to cd drive to re program because it still pop's of a password request. I have torn the laptop apart.. Can't find a regular looking battery on the mother board. i accidently broke a small round part off of the mb it said 25 v on the tom of it. it's about too small to mesure. the laptop still comes on. and nithing seems different. I just can't get into anything without it asking me for a password. Please help.
Answer:i have that same laptop and i have never had those problems. toshiba's customer service may help and they are super nice. sorry…
Answer:um she said it's a sattelitte how is that not telling me what kind of laptop it is? so stupid… that's why you look like a friggin pirate. dummy

Answer:Funny… someone else has "that same laptop" and you never mentioned the model Toshiba you have… so how could they have the same laptop?

At any rate, as I have addressed in one of your other questions… you threw the money away. This laptop is useless to you. Why? I'll tell you.

-You have damaged the motherboard, which means you can expect issues.

-If you send it back to Toshiba to have the BIOS password cleared, they will return it to the registered owner, which is not you… even if you tell them you bought it at a second hand store. Why? Because if you had stolen it, and you lied and told them that you bought it at a second hand store, it is their policy to return the products to the registered owners, rather than buy into lies. So even if it is the truth that you bought it at a second hand store, it doesn't matter. If the previous owner never registered it with Toshiba, then they will return it to you… but it will still cost you money for the procedure.

-You should have investigated all of this before you handed over a dime.

    Sorry.

Samsung P2450H

I’ve been the owner of the Sony Ericsson W810i phone with Cingular/AT&T service for about 3 months now. Having properly poked, prodded, connected, texted, called from and dropped this phone for that amount of time, I’m confident I am ready to write an honest review of it.

Weighing in at 3.49 ounces (99 grams), it’s light enough to not be clunky but heavy enough to not feel cheap. The phone is almost 4 inches tall and not quite an inch thick. This soothed my biggest fear of venturing away from a flip phone. With its antenna, my old Motorola v557 is actually a bit taller than this Sony Ericsson w810i. My Motorola V557 is also thicker.

Style and Antenna
I like the “candy bar” style phone. I like the internal antenna. It’s very slick looking.

Battery Type and Life
Battery life is about average for me. With normal phone usage, I charge about every 3 days. If I listen to the mp3 player or FM radio on the speaker, it’ll usually need to be charged after around 3 hours of continual use. What’s impressive is how fast this LiPolymer battery charges. My V557 would need to be plugged in for hours, whereas my Sony Ericsson w810i only needs not even a quarter of that time. I can go from 15% battery to 100% in under half an hour.

Display
The Sony Ericsson w810i sports a bright, clear LCD (TFT/TFD) in 18-bit (262,144 colors), 176 x 220 pixels in size. The screen is sharp and very easy to read with no fuzziness as long as your wallpaper was clear to begin with.

Memory: Built-in and Expandable
The Sony Ericsson w810i comes 20MB of memory built into the phone. My w810i from Cingular came with a 128MB Memory Stick Duo (with MagicGate) card. I’ve since upgraded to a 512MB card and I can fit over 100 mp3’s on that card with ease. I love expandable memory… I just wish Sony wasn’t so elitist when it came to their own type of cards. All that said, these cards are about the same price as an SD or xD card.

Phone Book
Capacity of 1000. I think that’s enough for most everybody. You can assign up to 5 numbers to a name (without getting a double entry, which is obnoxious), email address, birthday, web address, a picture, specific ringtone, voice command, job title, company name, a full address and an additional note. I can’t think of anything else an address book would need.

Flashlight
Bright, white LED’s function as both the flashlight for this phone and the flash for the camera. It’s nice and bright and will come in handy more often than you think!

Ringtones
Polyphonic and mp3. Good sound from the speaker. Options to use just vibrate, just ring, or ring and vibrate are nice. Includes a picture ID and ringer ID feature.

Connectivity
Bluetooth, Infrared and USB. The w810i has a great range with bluetooth. I’ve sent something from one to another on a different floor and the connection was clear and fast.

The w810i also syncs up to my PC via the USB connection like a dream. The provided software is easy to use and very stable. Getting music on is easy, transferring ringtones is a snap, and even adding or removing images is a breeze. I’ve never had a phone cooperate with a computer the way my w810i has.

Text/Browser
Text messaging is typical. Email/Picture/MMS, templates included. I’ve never used the web browser, but it is there.

FM Radio/mp3 Player
Coolest of the cool. I love the mp3 player and FM radio. The w810i includes headphones, which can be used to answer the call when plugged in. A microphone and ‘answer button’ are located on the cord so you don’t even have to take the phone out of your pocket. The mp3 pauses when you answer and resumes when you hang up.

The headphone cord (it splits into 2 pieces) also acts as the antenna for the radio. You can listen to both the mp3’s and the radio either on headphone or speaker.

Camera & Video
2 megapixel takes large photos with better quality than I’ve seen from most camera phones. It’s certainly not a professional camera, but it will take photos in the dark thanks to its LED flash. Video is typical for a camera phone, blocky and sort of slow.

Other Features
Included with the w810i are:
Full-Duplex Speakerphone
Alarms (recurring and one-time)
Calendar
Tasks
Notes (which can be pushed to other bluetooth phones)
Timer
Stopwatch
Calculator
Password Saver
Games
VideoDJTM
PhotoDJTM
MusicDJTM
Remote Control (bluetooth)
Sound Recorder

My Verdict
This phone is tough, attractive, easy to use and sized well. Even my fiancé, who has much larger fingers has no trouble pressing the buttons. For the price, there is a lot to this phone, and the only problems I ever encounter are the occasional mp3 error. When I turn up the volume the mp3 will freeze and buzz, and I’ll have to go to the next song and then back to begin the song again.

I was itching to get away from my Motorola V220 after about 2 weeks of owning it. I got tired of my V557 pretty quick as well. This phone provides me with a phone, little camera, and mp3 player/radio all in one. It’s a space saver and a money saver.

Sony support has also been leaps and bounds better than Motorola’s ever has. You actually talk to a person and they talk back. What a wild concept!

It’s safe to say I’m a convert. In a year and 9 months when my phone is eligible for an upgrade, I’ll probably stick with the Sony Ericsson name. This really is an all-in-one phone that will be quite useful to a lot of people.

David Hornsby and Emily Deschanel got married on Saturday! The couple were pronounced hubby and wife in an intimate evening ceremony that consisted of only family and a few close friends. I am willing to bet Emily’s sister Zoey Deschanel and her hubby Ben Gibbard were in attendance, I wonder though if her co-star David Boreanaz was a guest?

According to People.com the ceremony took place in the Pacific Palisades area. Although there doesn’t seem to be too many specifics about the I do’s we do know that the bride wear designer jewelry by the famed jewelry god Neil Lane. In terms of the gown The Bones star wore well that info has yet to be released but don’t worry I am working on finding it out for you.

David and Emily have been dating for over threes years. He is an actor/writer who is probably best known for producing and acting on the FX hit show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Emily Deschanel wedding photos while they may not have been released yet, they will be soon. Everyone knows celebs can’t keep those kind of pictures out of the spotlight. I don’t know what you all think, although I am hoping you will tell me but I have a feeling that Emily made one heck of a beautiful bride and that her now husband looked very handsome in a tux or suit not sure exactly what he wore. One thing is for sure congratulations are in order to the newlyweds Emily and David. Make sure you check back for pics of the couple on their special day.

You’ve probably seen a hybrid in your time. The mule is a hybrid between the horse and a donkey. Plants and flowers are frequently mixed to create new, fantastic colors. But sometimes mixing up two species seems just plain wrong.

As a matter of fact, The New York Times reports that some biologists estimate that as many as 10 percent of animal species and up to 25 percent of plant species may occasionally breed with another species.

The result may sometimes be a distinct new species that is stronger or larger than the originals (like the terrifying prospect of a rock python and Burmese python in Florida) but often the hybrid is a genetic dead end, infertile and unable to reproduce.

We’ve rounded up some amazing examples of animals that have been bred in captivity, or have even found each other in the wild to produce a brand new animal.

very cool thing to do…sure the couple will cherish these pictures too…I am pretty sure they took some alone as a couple as well…

Perez probably got threatened by the Boss’s lawyers or something because a few years ago he was posting that Bruce was cheating which was not confirmed.

Though best known for their stunning collections, many of the world’s museums are also architectural icons which exemplify cutting-edge design. From the out-of-this-world shape of Brazil’s Niterói Contemporary Art Museum to the iconic shell-like spirals of New York’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the structures are often as captivating, perplexing and radical as the world-renowned pieces they house.

We’ve collected some of the world’s most magnificently designed museums below. The designs of some were considered provocative and even distasteful when they were first constructed, but are generally regarded as marvels today. Be sure to vote for your favorite and let us know any you think we’ve overlooked in the comments.
