Having arrive in Singapore on the 9th of September, ZE:A aka Children of Empire, a group just formed this year was in town for their showcase held at Suntec City Convention Centre. As it was the day where muslims all over celebrated Aid, they wished all muslims Selamat Hari Raya before the press conference started.

During the press event, Kwanghee pointed and imitate with much enthusiasm that his family had actually traveled to Singapore for a holiday without him, as he was busy studying, thus making him fascinated about “The Merlion”, symbol of Singapore.

Being known as a food paradise, what attracts Siwan more to Singapore is actually shopping as their fellow label-mate Seo In Young who had been to Singapore before wrote a book on Singapore mentioning Singapore, Orchard Road a couple of times.

Speaking of the SNSD girls, Yoona and Jessica was the most popular choosen among them. SM family love ♥ Lastly, Kwanghee demonstrated how women of different ages drank water, something which he had done on the Korean variety show Star Golden Bell which amuses the whole media present. At the end, too show the appreciation, they actually request for a handshake to all media present.

Be sure to look out for ZE:A when they are back here in Singapore once again on October 23rd for a one in a life time KPOP concert with Big Bang, SNSD, SHINee, FT Island, Infinite and D-NA.

Jay Park was in town for his one night only showcase at Wave House Sentosa on the 30th of October. He came to town bringing with him his crew AOM and also guest star like The Quiett and Dok2 where they performed together on stage during his showcase event.

Upon his arrival to Singapore, Jay was impressed by the warm welcome he receive and couldn’t ask for more especially those who chases him and “knocks on the car”.

During the press conference, the former 2pm member, who won alot of heart with his charming voice and masculine body mentioned that being in a relationship with a fan is not possible for the time being. All he could thing of now is to be with his AOM crew and find his stand in music.

To connect to his fans more, unlike many artistes, Jay has actually set up a couple of online account [youtube, facebook, twitter] to share his daily events. So make sure to add him up to any of the accounts to be and keep in touch with him.

Lastly, on his views on groups that have disbanded and come up on their own, he didn’t plan on any of the events that has happened thus far. Be it whether he has either been pressurized by the company or not, he did mention that the decision was made without any selfish thought. Like “by thinking of the group wants and the company wants…, you just have to make sacrifices for your group.”

Choosing a slide scanner can be a matter of dollars and sense and personal preference. My husband and I purchased a Minolta Dimage Scan thinking we needed one specifically for slides and that we would get better resolution. This turned out to be a wrong impression. We also missed having a scanner to read and print documents and we had a large number of photographs. We set aside the Minolta Dimage and bought ourselves an HP 5880, which was the best model we could find for the price at the time. The HP 5880 scans had better resolution and was far easier to use than the slide mounted model by Minolta. I’m very happy with the model I have as it supports a resolution that is good enough for posting on most internet applications and my digital camera supports a higher resolution. If you have a large number of photographs or slides of professional quality, buying one of the more expensive models might be appropriate. Using a scanner service may be a quicker, easier choice, and many of the same features, models, and manufacturers will apply when looking at the quality they deliver.

A number of features affect how well people like a scanner. Output resolution is one of the biggest. A second feature is how the scanning software works. A third is how quickly the scanning occurs. Most scanners have a USB 2.0 High Speed Port. Many flatbeds support legal, 8 ½ by 11 sheets. When models become more expensive than $300, typically the features added include professional image resolution, sheet feeder models for offices and large scanning jobs, 2-sided scan capability, and more speed. The number of prints scanned at one time is affected by the model.

Review by Thousand Oaks PC Club for HP Pavilion G60-230US 16.0-Inch Laptop

I purchased this laptop after comparing price/performance for low cost laptops. I ruled out AMD CPUs as comparable Intel mobile processors are faster. I have been using this HP for 10 days and have found it to be an excellent computer after a number of changes as follows:

1. Uninstalled all the trial software and other programs I will not use.

2. Ran MSConfig, Startup, and removed every program from Startup except the four items for the Intel Graphics processor.

3. Went to Administrative Services and comparing it with the recommendations on changed a lot of services from Automatic (startup) to either Manual or Disable. This removed a lot more programs that ran at startup.

4. Added a number of new programs that I use.

5. Upgraded the memory from 3GB to 4GB.

Even before I performed step 5. above, this computer was now very fast It uses an Intel T4200 mobile dual processor which is only about 8% slower than the Intel T6400 processor featured in most of the higher priced mainstream laptops. If you wish to upgrade memory, there is one step that is not included in any instructions I have seen. After changing a memory module, you must disconnect the hard drive for 5 seconds or more or your computer will not start. I found this out after an hour on the phone with HP tech support. I highly recommend HP tech support as I found them to be knowledgeable even if they are in India. Upgrading the memory will not void your warranty. One thing to note – the HP warranty is 90 days with HP paying for shipping both ways, labor and materials. After that for the balance of one year you pay shipping and labor and HP pays for parts.

Everything works well, from easy wireless connection to the modem, etc. I like everything about this laptop and recommend it if you can buy it a low price. HP has a rebate on this computer until June 27th, and also offers a full or partial rebate on certain HP printers when you buy this computer.

  Many people would say that bigger is beautiful when it comes to laptops and this is certainly the case with the G72-260US from HP. Housing a large 17.3 inch screen this is the perfect laptop for those who don’t want to compromise on size and still want enough power to multi task without worrying about lag.

  One of the first things you will notice about the G72-260US is the stunning design. The front plastics are of high quality and also very glossy giving it a shiny yet elegant finish. The keyboard is of exceptional quality and naturally with it being a larger laptop it also comes with a number pad. The typing experience is very pleasing and effortless with very little noise made from hitting the keys.

  Looks aside the G72-260US also brings a lot of power to the table with an Intel I3 processor running at 2.26 GHz. As standard you get 4GB of DDR3 memory that is upgradeable to 8. There is certainly enough power to multi task without the worry of slow response times. Programs are very fast to load and movies will play nicely at 720p without any lag whatsoever.

  Other Features - The G72-260US comes with a 320GB Sata hard drive which gives a decent amount of storage for media and programs. Some people who collect big catalogues of music and movies might find this a bit small but with storage being so cheap nowadays an external hard drive is usually a feasible solution.

  Good news for those who have wireless N routers, the G72-260US comes with a built in Wireless N card offering you the fastest available wireless speeds currently on offer. You also get the standard 10/100 LAN card onboard, slightly disappointing that this is not gigabyte, but the wireless N certainly makes up for it.

  With the G72-260US being such a big laptop and having a very stunning screen this would make a perfect home entertainment laptop. This makes me wonder why HP did not include a better pair of built in speakers. The ones you get with it are of very average quality and slightly ruin the playback experience for audio and visual. Luckily this isn’t too much of a problem as good quality external speakers can be bought for quite cheap and will complete the G72-260US’s media experience.

  Summary - The G72-260US has the power, size and looks to be a great laptop at a budget price. This will be perfect for many different laptop users and offers the flexibility to perform just about any task you would want to on a laptop. It is slightly let down by the low quality speakers and lack of gigabyte networking but these are only minor points on an otherwise very good quality system from HP.

At first glance, BenQ Joybook S43’s thinness is not visible. With thick ranged from 2.7 to 3.6 cm, this notebook is relatively thicker than the thin notebook from Acer, Timeline 4810T which only 3 cm thick. Weight S43 (2.1 kg) was also less light than the Acer. However, when compared to traditional 14-inch notebooks, BenQ Joybook S43 remained relatively superior in terms of weight and thickness.

When you touch BenQ Joybook S43 it feels that BenQ Joybook S43 is so steady, thanks to the use of plastic material that feels sturdy. When we press the back of the screen, it takes a large enough force to cause waves on the screen. This shows the chassis is quite capable of protecting the screen from minor collisions.

If we look at the lower side of BenQ Joybook S43, we’ll find the panel to access the memory slot so we can easily increase the memory capacity. But considering this notebook 2 memory slots and both are filled with 2×2GB configuration, not much we can do here. As for upgrading the capacity of hard disk, may be difficult because there are no special access panel for it. But considering BenQ Joybook S43 provides a 250GB capacity, we should not need a hard drive upgrade in the near future.

Like other thin notebooks, Joybook S43 uses Intel processors CULV class, namely Core 2 Solo U3500 (1.4 GHz, L2 Cache 3MB). Assisted 4GB memory, this notebook’s performance was fairly responsive when used for standard applications. Special, this notebook uses a standalone graphics card ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 (512MB). As a result, performance notebook graphics class far exceeded the average of just using onboard graphics.

In the facility, this notebook appears complete. The most notable is the presence of a DVD Writer, a facility that you rarely meet in other thin notebooks.   The Pavillion dv7-4070us is a fine spec machine. However, what lets it down massively is it’s HORRIBLE touch pad which is at times uncontrollable and extremely infuriating. Even with sensitivity turned up to the max it still stutters and sticks all over the place. Not only this, but the buttons are ridiculously stiff also. I had hoped I would get used to this but have given up and now connect a mouse. If you are happy to do this then the machine is fine, but it rather defeats the purpose of a laptop in my view.

  Aside from that the machine is good – only annoying thing is the amount of annoying HP clutter on the machine, constantly badgering you to buy Norton and share your music etc…etc… If you can turn a blind eye to this then fine. I bought this model specifically for the sound and no complaints there.

  Good general purpose workhorse
  I bought this laptop after doing quite a bit of research, looking for a replacement for the family computer at a reasonable price point. Considering the value of the computer against the price, I think this is a good deal, though this machine is not ideal for all uses. This computer is good for general use, such as surfing the net, playing the occasional game or working on spreadsheets. It’s neither a heavy gaming rig nor a heavy-duty business machine, but it is sufficient for almost any everyday task that can be thrown at it. This is the ideal for which I was looking. In that capacity it does itself proud.

  Having previously bought a Hewlett-Packard laptop I had hoped that this machine would have the standard media set, meaning recovery disks and documentation, but this is not the case. HP has elected to require the owner to make their own recovery media, which is a cost-saving measure for HP and a tedious annoyance for end-users. To be fair, it seems that most manufacturers have taken this route, so this should come as no surprise. Making recovery media requires 3 single-layer DVDs, and the creation tool says that either DVD+R or DVD-R platters are acceptable. I did not try dual-layer media.

  On first boot, the user is greeted with a welcome/setup application that guides the user through the process of setting up wireless networking, naming the user account and of course registration. I personally think this application is very cartoony in appearance, using the image of hands to walk you through turning pages and transition screens. While it’s clear HP is targeting home users with this approach, it seems out of place for more professional use. It’s a personal preference, though, and it accomplishes the end goal.

  Once booted up into Windows 7 the first time, the barrage of “Register Me” and “Activate this Software” popup windows began and it not only was distracting and annoying but it interfered with my personal setup. In the middle of creating the recovery media, a window popped over top of the recovery application asking if I wanted to make recovery DVDs. I would have preferred that it detect the process in progress, or at most give me a system tray notification instead. Though annoying, this can be dealt with either by activation/registration or performing an uninstall of the offending application(s).

  My first order of business was to strip the extra stuff I don’t want from the OS. I removed MS Office 2007 trial and I removed all things Norton/Symantec. This was mercifully very easy and quick. Now, that said, for the user that actually wants these applications (and I suspect there’s quite a few people who do) having these pre-installed will be very convenient. For me, I have no intention of using any of these as I have software for which I have licenses already, so I removed them.

  Some people have difficulties with the touch pad, though I have not. I personally dislike most laptop touchpads and this one is no exception though it works as it should and is flush with the rest of the plastic shell. That said, the touchpad “mouse buttons” are actually one unified rocker button that is stiff and unresponsive.

  The keyboard is another matter entirely. Though I have had no issues with the keyboard, I am concerned that the wireless adapter is enabled and disabled through the F12 key, not separated from the rest of the keys on the keyboard. This is asking for trouble for people that do not use a separate keyboard. HP can expect complaints about the wireless getting cut on and off via bad keystrokes.

  Another puzzling design decision is that there appears to be no latch for the laptop lid. It simply opens or closes, no more or less. In my case this is not a major issue as the system will sit on a desk and not move; for those on the go this could be a potential issue, especially if the computer is dropped. Keep this in mind.

  None of the ports on this unit are on the back; all of them are located on the sides, including the power and the VGA interfaces. At first this bothered me. I can see some wisdom in it now, though, because of the hinge and the ability to move the system flush with the back of the desk which is against the wall. Again, this is beneficial for me. If you are left-handed, though, this could be very problematic as two of the USB ports, the HDMI port and the VGA interface are all on the left and if all of those are plugged in the cords will interfere with external mice. In my case I am connecting an external monitor, mouse and keyboard so the system does not need to be directly in front of the user.

  In terms of performance, this is a peppy system. There’s 4 GB of RAM, expandable to 8, which gives Windows and applications plenty of breathing room. The processor is 2.13 GHz with 2 cores, sufficient for most software (though not for high-end games). The hard drive is a 7200-RPM drive, a very noticeable upgrade from the 5400-RPM drive in my older HP. The graphics adapter is really the only weakness when it comes to speed, but even so it is still a decent graphics adapter and will work just fine for the majority of users.

  I do like the styling with the interesting texture and color of the plastic shell. It is most certainly not necessary but it’s a break from the ordinary that makes this laptop a little more interesting. HP did a great job with making the touchpad seamless, too, which will keep crud from gathering in the edges.

  Overall, I am satisfied with this system. It meets the needs for which I purchased it, it’s stylish and it performs well. It is by no means perfect, but at the price point it’s more system than I could otherwise ask for. If you need a good workhorse laptop that is affordable, this is a good candidate. Be aware that there are a few negatives too, such a port placement, when purchasing, though an argument can be made for the negatives being no more than personal preference.

  HP G62 Setting the Bar straight!
  Fist off, by the look of this unit some might say it looks alot like the Macbook pro 13″, with that being said, looks are NOT everything, This HP G62 packs alot of KICKASS punch, Unlike the other person who wrote that he’s having a track pad problem…..GET GLASSES if you cannot see the track pad. One of the features regarding the track pad is the shut off, you just tap twice on the led thats located on top of the pad too disable the track pad, of which then an amber light comes on letting you know that you have disabled the track pad, too enable it, just tap twice and your good too go, this feature was made if you are going too use an external mouse. Now as far as This unit’s functionality, its awesome, all hard drives depending on your configuration, are @ 7200 rpm,the base CPU is the new i3 core by intel, of which is upgradeable too the i5 or i7. It also features the new L3 cache, giving you a smoother ride then the older L2 cache systems. The system bus is well over 1066MHz, uses very fast DDR3 ram of which this unit is upgradeable too 8 gigs of ram. In addition the graphics are in true native, and watching a dvd was an experience, with the Altec Lansing audio surround. OK now for multi-task, I have compared it too the Macbook Pro, With the Intel core 2 duo running @ 2.8 Ghz, the results were very impressive, The HP (base model) not only beat the Macbook Pro in muli-tasking, but also ran apples own software like itunes and others with little effort, running adobe CS4 was so fast I could not believe what I was seeing. As far as surfing the web, I have never been on a mobile device that has speeds that are just unbelievable. HP and Intel have put together a product that surpasses systems worth $2000 and up. Of coarse if you deside too get your HP G62 FULLY loaded with the i7 intel cpu, blueray, 500gb hard drive, and dedicated graphics, and built in bluetooth, this unit will run you about $2400. Now weather you get the base model or upgraded version, 1 word….Kickass, its about time a PC company challenges the bar, weather your a casual user or an extreme user, makes no difference, this unit is built for decades too come! Well worth the money!

  Alright, how about a review from someone other than the company producing the product.

  I purchased this computer based on a lack of options and time constraints, but since I have several other working notebooks that I use for travel and school, I was willing to take pretty much anything for my home computer. The computer itself is fine. Windows 7 is fine. The speed is good and the screen view is very clear. However, there is one major flaw that makes this computer a terrible buy — the Keyboard/Mouse.

  First of all, the Aztec design is stupid. If you buy a computer for how it looks then you deserve the problems you get.

  The keys themselves are poorly situated, very far from the edge of the laptop, so when you type, you hurt your wrists on the lip of the laptop. The point of a laptop is for it be portable, but typing on anything but a high flat surface is difficult without hurting yourself.

  Next, the keyboard has extra quick launch keys along the left side of the keyboard. I accidentally hit them all the time, opening programs while I’m typing. I haven’t figured out how to turn them off yet, but I can’t wait.

  Now for the biggest flaw of all…the mouse touchpad. Looking at the computer, the mouse pad is flush with the computer, creating a streamline look. However, the touchpad sucks! It is both too sensitive and not sensitive enough. Since there are no boarders to the touchpad, I find I can activate the mouse way left or way right of the touchpad. This is a problem if you ever rest your wrists on the laptop while typing. Furthermore, using the touchpad to double-tap works about 1/2 of the time and using it to scroll up and down pages is an exercise in futility. The Mouse key (since there are not two separate keys) is difficult to press and seems weak and I can tell it will go out and need to be replaced soon.

  All in all, unless you want to use an external keyboard and external mouse, don’t buy this computer. If you do buy it, get the most comprehensive extended warranty package you can because it is going to break and you are going to need it.

A recent post on Planet Ark gave an interesting insight into the realities of conservation, specifically, in this case, of Orangutans. A survey of villagers living near orangutans in Indonesia’s Kalimantan province found that a quarter were “not aware the rare primates are protected”, that “more than 50 percent of respondents” thought it was NOT a protected species, and that some correspondents claimed that “they killed the animal for no specific reason”. I and most readers of 10,000 Birds know they’re protected, but many villagers interacting with the apes don’t. In financially-stressed times when charities and governments are low on funds how do you solve a problem like that I wonder?

SAMSUNG IA-BP85ST Camcorder Battery Articles & Tips

A new IA-BP85ST SAMSUNG camcorder battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use (see the device manual for charging instructions). The initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the digital camcorder SAMSUNG IA-BP85ST may require three to four charge / discharge before achieving maximum capacity. New Samsung IA-BP85ST needs to be charged and discharged completely (of course) a few times before it can condition to full capacity. Rechargeable batteries to self discharge when not in use. Always store a Camcorder Battery pack fully charged staged for loading the storage.When SAMSUNG IA-BP85ST for the first time the device may indicate that charging is complete after 10 or 15 minutes. This is a normal phenomenon with rechargeable batteries. Remove the camcorder batteries from the device, reinsert it and repeat the charging procedure.

It is important to condition (fully discharge and then fully charge) the SAMSUNG IA-BP85ST every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the battery’s life (this does not apply to Li-ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run the device under the battery’s power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user’s manual. Toshiba recall is for laptop Satellite models T123, T135D and Pro T130.

Toshiba Laptop Recall For Satellite T-Series. Toshiba has issued a recall of 41,000 Satellite laptop computers. The laptops are overheating and the recall is related to potential burn hazards.

Laptop models include the Satellite T-series model. The computers can overheat and melt the plastic base around the input for the AC adapter. The exact models include T123, T135D and Pro T130.

They laptops were sold in the beginning of August in 2009. The recalled computers were sold in the US and Canada. There have been 129 reports of excessive heat or smoke in the US and 14 in Canada for the 41,000 devices sold.

Mike Lucas, senior vice president of Vaio for Sony, stated “In rare instances, these notebook computers may overheat due to a potential malfunction of the internal temperature management system, resulting in deformation of the product's keyboard or external casing, and a potential burn hazard to consumers.”

computers because they "can overheat at the notebook's plug-in to the AC adapter, posing a burn hazard to consumers," according to the CPSC.

"Toshiba
has received 129 reports of the notebook computers overheating and
deforming the plastic casing area around the AC adapter plug, including
two reports of minor burn injuries that did not require medical
attention and two reports of minor property damage," a Sept. 2 CPSC press release said.

The recall includes certain Toshiba Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and
Satellite Pro T130 notebook computer models. The model name and number
