If you’re serious about learning how to cook French food, ask the experts. Go into kitchens, bakeries and any other professional food spots and ask the cooks what they’re up to. This is called back room cooking and it’s one of the most effective ways to get advice on how to cook like a chef.
When I recently stepped into our local grocer’s shop, in the Rue Dauphine, I instantly smelt something delicious being cooked in the kitchen, in the back room. Knowing the grocer and his wife to be natives of Auvergne, I asked if they were preparing a “plat du pays.”
“Yes,” they said, with contented smiles, “and it’s a Foie de Veau a l’Auvergnate.” I had heard of this dish before and was, naturally, curious to know how it was cooked. A day or two later, I obtained the detailed recipe for it, in addition to an intriguing vegetable dish, Chou Rouge aux Marrons.
This inspired me to set out in search of other recipes from the back-room cooks of the Latin Quarter. I next went round the corner, to the Rue de Seine, to see my friends from whom I regularly buy their freshly made pasta (spaghetti, macaroni, tagliatelli, canelloni, ravioli, etc.). They are a very friendly couple from Antibes. La patronne loves cooking and enjoys talking about it on every occasion with her enchanting accent of the Midi. From her, I managed to obtain the “home” recipes for Tagliatelli a l’Antiboise and the Tomates du Midi.
One Sunday, when we were expecting friends in for lunch, I went to the Marche Saint-Germain to buy some turbot for my filet de turbot a Undienne dish. But Louise, the buxom, good-humored fish vendor from Marseilles, had no turbot that day and I saw nothing on her usually very well stocked stall that could replace the dish I had intended to serve.
“Take a look at those mackerel,” she said. “They’re superb and so fresh. They’re line-caught, not net-fished.”
When Louise saw me retreat from the idea of offering our guests mackerel, she then divulged her own and ever-so-easy way of preparing Maquereaux en Papillote. We tried it out, with great success. Among other recipes that Louise has since given me are her Oeufs Farcis au Thon.
Francois, our butcher, wasn’t quite so co-operative, at first, when I asked him to give me a few original ideas for preparing different cuts of meat.
“The fact is,” he said, “I get tired at looking at all this meat that I have to cut up and sell day in day out. Fortunately, my wife realizes this and she has recently been experimenting in our little back-room kitchen in dishes other than meat. A day or two ago she cooked an excellent Gibelotte de Lapin. I’ll ask her to give you the details; also for the Escalopes de Lapin.”
Nothing daunted, I next asked the proprietress of one of my favorite cafes - Le Lutetia, on the Quai de Bourbon - where light luncheons are served, what she could contribute by way of recipes for simple desserts. Her answer was to explain how easy it is to prepare bananes flambees and the amusing Martinique egg dish.
And that is the way it goes in France today, world center of gastronomy. If you express a genuine interest in cooking, you can collect a mine of exciting and entertaining gastronomic information with which you can experiment in your own kitchen.

Nowadays, most people seem to think that using a simple label is the best way to mark something. However, a basic label is itself not always suitable. One reason, for example, why I would rarely consider using a label by itself is the inability to remove and reapply it.
Most labels are permanent, and completely unchangeable. So once you’ve stuck the label to something, you can’t remove it, and you can’t alter it. No matter what you need the labels for, you can usually find a label holder that will work for you, ranging from a simply plastic sleeve to a carefully crafted magnetic holder.
In the first place, label holders can be adapted much more easily, as they are often designed specifically so that you can remove and reattach them. Besides this, being a label holder rather then a label itself, means that you can change what it reads without difficulty.
Second of all, label holders are a lot cheaper then labels. I don’t meant he label holder itself, as that will obviously cost more, but you will save money through reusing them in the long run. It’s just one less monthly cost to worry about.
Finally, if you need something long-lasting, you want to get a label holder. They are much more durable, and can last for years while a common paper label will get faded and worn astonishingly quickly, particularly in adverse conditions. Then, again, if the label does start to fade, it is so easy to replace you’ll hardly notice it.
As you can see, label holders are clearly superior to basic labels. They are longer lasting and reusable, which makes them both cheaper and more useful. The only thing you might have trouble with, once you’ve decided to use label holders instead of just labels, is finding somewhere to get them from. Of course, this is itself hardly difficult, and I’m sure you can think of one or two places right now that might be able to help you. Although, they might not be the best places to buy in bulk, or offer a very good value. So, the problem is finding somewhere like that.
The answer to this is to order online. I know you’ve probably heard that a lot of other people have run into problems buying online, but in fact it’s really not that bad. Of course, people occasionally have problems, and there are some bad deals out there, but there are also plenty of excellent opportunities available.
You just have to know how to find them. Again, this is not that hard. Just go onto google, and do a search for “label holders”. Given how specific your search is, it’s a good bet that at least some of the entries here are worth looking at. You just need to check them out. If you’re really not sure about the internet, there are a goodly number of security sites that offer reviews, so you can be sure your shopping somewhere trustworthy.
So go on, go online, and check out your options. Even if you don’t intend to buy anything, you may well find yourself surprised at the variety and value available with the click of a mouse.

People live in different situation. As each of the people have different needs. People who live in the city have different needs than the people who live in a farm. But each of them has the same thing time. In this article we will see a sample of a man called Bob, who spend his life in a farm.
Now that you are acquainted with Ben I would like you to meet Bob. Bob lives in the country. He has a farm. It is not a very big farm; it is one of those medium sized farms from which you can get enough produce to make both ends meet. Bob is up at when the cock crows at five in the morning. As soon as he is up, he goes to his dairy and milks his three cows.
I must add that Bob does not walk, he ambles. Having milked the cows he heads back to the farm and sits down with his morning paper. He chats leisurely with his wife who is going about her daily business. Around 8 he hops into his tractor and drives to the nearby dairy to deliver the milk. There he meets a couple of his friends and spends a good half hour exchanging news with them. He gets back to the farm at nine and has a relaxed breakfast.
When breakfast is over, he puts on his straw-hat and taking his dog along starts his daily excursion among his cornfields. His corn has a couple a weeks to go before harvest and now there is nothing much to do but walk around inspecting the rat traps. At eleven he is back at the farm and settles down to listen to his radio playing some old favorite tunes. He has lunch at 1 and then settles down in his favorite chair for a long afternoon siesta. In the evening he again goes to milk his cows, gives them some fresh feed and has one more walk around the farm.
After dinner by seven, by eight he is in bed and the lights are out.
Lets admit it, Bobs life is so leisurely that we feel like screaming when we watch the pace at which he gets along. He is happy and contented and the only clock in his farm stopped ticking a few years ago. We cannot even draw a parallel line between the lives of bob and Ben. They are two worlds apart. The point I was trying to drive home is that it is our life style that decides how much time we have for each thing. The way we live and what we do decides how we spend our time and how much time we have to spend. We choose our life styles and that decides what we do with our time and that is why I said that we live in our own Time cages. (Psst I do not think there are many Bobs alive in the world today.)
So what kind of life do you live. We, that is most of us live in a world of aero planes, and jets, and fast cars and supercomputers and elevators and escalators, and electric trains and a thousand more contraptions and machines that are all intended to save time and do things faster.
Yeah, yeah we talk about convenience, but the fact is that all these machines were the result of man endeavor to get things done faster. And the result is that life moves so fast that we could get dizzy if we were to take a minute break and just look around at all the people whizzing around in the daily business called life.
Twenty four hours is hardly enough for us to finish a days work. And so what most working people do is that they start compromising on the other seemingly not so important thing like eating and getting eight hours sleep in the night. And so we have such a large number of people suffering from stress related diseases like ulcers, high blood pressure and heart problems.
From this story we see that Bob lives in a place where things move a bit slower than Ben who lives in a rushing city. But both of them has the similarity, they have the time they need to cope with.

Beth is a professor at mid sized university in the southeast. The school has extremely high standards. All of the faculty and students pride themselves on great academic achievements. Graduates of the college have gone on to do great things.
In fact, if you were a graduate in good standing you were guaranteed to be a first employment prospect with some of the best corporations in the country. Everyone knew the expectations and worked hard to keep them. Jimmy was a senior at the university.
He was one of Beths students. He was a laid back southern boy whose main interest was football. He was an average student who did just enough schoolwork to make a passing grade. Some of the other students wondered how he had lasted in such a prestigious school.
Jimmy was also a star on the university football team. In the past, football players received special attention especially if they were stars. Sometimes the coaches would talk to the teachers and get them extra time to do their work. Many times the coaches would assist them with their work.
It was all to help keep them on the team. Even with the extra attention, Jimmy usually only passed by a slim margin. In order to preserve its academic standards the school instituted a new policy. No student would be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities if they did not meet a certain grade standard.
The coaches were furious. They knew they would loose some star players. Nevertheless those were the rules. If they were to remain employed at the university they had to abide. Jimmy was starting to get worried.
He knew he had a good chance at being drafted by a professional football team. He just needed to get enough game time in his senior year. He thought, man this school is going to ruin it for me. All the coaches tried to help Jimmy with his schoolwork.
Some of the students even loaned a hand. It was not enough. Jimmys old habits were hard to break. When Jimmys grades were reported he barely passed everything except Beths class. He failed it miserably. He knew he would be stripped from the team. He was furious.
Without taking time to find out his options. He went charging into Beths office. He slammed the report on her desk. He said, see what you did me. You are not going to get away with it. Beth was a little nervous. Jimmy grabbed her by both shoulders and started shaking her.
Just then one of the coaches walked in. He broke Jimmy away from Beth. Beth was disturbed by the incident but was not seriously hurt. College security arrived and took Jimmy into custody. He was eventually arrested and charged with assault.
Some people will not put forth the extra effort required to succeed. When they fail will blame others. Standards are enforced for a reason. If anyone is allowed to break them they are meaningless. When people do fail they should take the time to figure out what went wrong. Instead many jump to conclusions.
If something of value is at stake they may become violent. They may see you as the cause of their problem. If the situation gets out of control you must be prepared to defend yourself if necessary.

Many people, myself included love the look of old things. We love to furnish our homes with old furniture and different nick knacks that have come from a different era. The light of Jesus hovered over the earth and ignited sparkles of stars shining onto people. The Holy Spirit lit up each sleeping mind with visions, dreams, and inspired messages.
Some of the messages fell on those who thought they were meaningless and they ignored them. Others fell on believers who vowed to follow them, but when the trials of life occurred they quickly forgot.
But there were a few messages that fell on ordinary people who took them to heart and shared them with those who would listen. I am one of those ordinary people.
The message I received radiated ideas and formed words that spurred my interest. Ideas I had never understood before. Awakening thought-provoking feelings in me I had never known.
My hands turned red and hot. My body felt like a great vibration was stirring every fiber of my being in anticipation of a word from God. My mind spoke to my consciousness as if a Spirit flew in to give me a message from the Almighty God.
Hebrews 10:16, “This is the covenant that I will make with them in the days to come, says the Lord; I will put my laws in their hearts and write them on their minds.”
When I first began to receive messages from God, they dealt strictly with my life. They were messages of encouragement and love. But every message came with a warning. Pray for protection against Satan.
As the years passed and I faced many difficult challenges with child custody to the judgment that churches place on the backs of their followers. I realized how important this prayer was and how impossible this world is when we don’t realize how great a force Satan is to our lives.
1 John 5: 19, “We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.”
Satan is the ruler of this world. He has been given the freedom to influence people by demon forces that want to destroy their lives and rob them from ever having faith in God. He does this within a world game of good versus evil.
Many of today’s great spiritual leaders have become so accustomed and trained in theology and doctrine that they have become ignorant of the invisible spiritual realm that comes after people. As a result, Satan has immobilized the clergy because they are so wrapped up in manmade teachings!
When you are in a world game that involves an unseen spiritual realm that no one is acknowledging, then we are easily dominated and conquered by evil forces. Our freewill is easily influenced by evil thinking because the clergy aren’t teaching us how to defend ourselves against Satan.
People are not being taught how to listen to the Spirit of God. They don’t understand the fundamentals of defense found in the whisper of God’s voice within their being.
1 John 2:26-27, “I am writing this to you about those who are trying to deceive you. But as for you, Christ has poured out his Spirit on you. As long as his Spirit remains in you, you do not need anyone to teach you. For his Spirit teaches you about everything, and what he teaches is true, not false. Obey the Spirit’s teaching, then, and remain in union with Christ.”
Christians need to read their Bibles, pray for protection from Satan, and ask for insight from God over the problems they are facing. They must exercise their faith by being aware of the battle’s they will face in this world game.
Many Christians have a surface faith that takes them no further than believing in God and leaves the rest to the interpretation of the church. This can be a disaster, because it prevents the Holy Spirit from directly teaching a person.
God used direct messages to me in order to break the mind set I had learned from the present day church. He changed my life and made me depend on Him so I would listen to Him alone!
1 John 3:9&10, “Whoever is a child of God does not continue to sin, for God’s very nature is in him: and because God is his Father, he cannot continue to sin. Here is the clear difference between God’s children and the Devil’s children: anyone who does not do what is right or does not love his brother is not God’s child.”
God pitted me against family and church by making me gay. He made me love a woman so I would understand that love equals God! He took me out of the teachings of the church so I would seek Him and learn from Him.
What the church says is sin is not always sin! The church wants us to follow their doctrine so we will become like robots, all serving God their way. God wants us to be vessels full of the Holy Spirit who will do battle for Him against the evil workings of Satan on an individual bases.
Today I am persecuted because I tell people I am gay in what I write. Many article directories will not distribute my writings because of this declaration.
Yet God, in His wisdom, pitted me against even those who refuse to listen because of my gayness. Being gay is a small part of me, but being God’s child is all of me.
God raises us up in a evil world so we will fight for Him and love. He takes our lives and puts us into different situations in this world so we will undo the evil that Satan forces on each individual life.
1 John 5:3-5, “For our love for God means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not too hard for us, because every child of God is able to defeat the world. And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith. Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”
We are His Christian Soldiers. We are placed here in difficult situations so we can defeat the devil and his influence over people. As a reward we will be given an eternity of blessings for everything we have suffered.
Everything I learned about the truth was given to me through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit working within me taught me to let go of rules and regulations that are taught within the doctrine of the churches and place my faith in God and the teaching He gives me on the inside.
I would have never changed if I hadn’t learned to listen to God’s voice on my own. I would have allowed the church to keep me from loving who I was meant to love. I would have joined the world and persecuted anyone that didn’t believe the way the church taught me to believe.
1 John 5: 20-21, “We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we know the true God. We live in union with the true God-in union with his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and this is eternal life.
My children, keep yourselves safe from false gods!”
I was raised a Baptist. I was taught all the doctrines of hate the church teaches against people. When I let go of what I was taught to believe and I allowed God to work in me I began to see.
The message beamed as the Spirit of God flew down from the unseen heavenly kingdom of God. A message so clear that I had to listen and change the way I thought.
God took all of me my feelings, my mind, and my soul, He taught me how to hear things that men can only hear from the voice of God. Listen to the Spirit and let love guide your life. Listen to the Spirit and allow faith to give you the victory over Satan and the evil world he created.

But probably you visited the upper reaches of your house in the spring or fall. In the Pluto-ish region under the house, temperatures are more equable than in the attic. Long-term heroin addiction is also associated with difficult withdrawal symptoms and separation anxiety. Heroin is taken through injected doses, smoking, or by sniffing.
“Trainspotting” is a very interesting movie about the effects and dangers of heroin abuse. The 1996 movie based on a novel was directed by Danny Boyle and starred in by Ewan McGregor. The movie depicts the desperate lives of the heroin addicts who finance their drug habit through shoplifting and getting money from their parents. The movie also shows the “rollercoaster” life of heroin addicts who repeatedly swear to end their addiction only to find themselves again at the mercy of the local drug dealer.
Aside from the characters who are “hooked” on heroin, the film also shows the difficulties of other characters named Tommy and Begbie who do not take drugs but still lead troubled lives. Tommy is more fond of football and girls, while Begbie is a violent drunkard.
In one scene, the group of friends again engage in a heroin “session,” this time, with a female friend. As the group drift away from “reality” due to the psychotropic effects of the narcotic, they also lose all sense of responsibility for their actions. After the effects of the “hit” wear off, they were shocked to find the baby dead and rotting in her crib. The heroin addicts were so “out of touch” that they eventually neglected to feed and care for the baby. Naturally, the mother of the baby suffered from extreme separation anxiety and grief after losing the baby. The death of the baby was an eye-opener for the group of friends and made them consider quitting their addiction.
Renton, the character portrayed by Ewan McGregor, tried so hard to “get clean” and leave behind his friends and his heroin addiction. Unfortunately, he got an overdose during his self-proclaimed “one last hit” of heroin. After the overdose incident, he was forced by his parents to quit heroin, “cold turkey.” Renton was locked up at home and suffered severe withdrawal symptoms. He again experience separation anxiety since he was forcibly separated from this heroin-addicted gang. In numerous moments of hallucination, he was bothered by depressive thoughts, guilt, and shame. Specifically, he was very troubled by the death of the baby during one of their heroin sessions. As a means to start a new life, he reluctantly agreed to making a heroin transaction with his friends. The profits from the sale of the illegal narcotic was supposed to be split among them. Instead, Renton was able to run away with most of the money. His friends spiraled down back to their heroin addiction. The film ends by showing how Renton finally gave up his friends and his addiction by moving to London. In the city, he sought to find a new life far away from his petty thievery and heroin-dependent lifestyle. In London, he wanted to make a fresh start and take the opportunity to “choose life.”

A prerequesite for those seeking transformation is the urge for wholeness & love of Truth. You might think this goes without saying, but many people are content to live within the social norms and pursue happiness through acquisition or fame or power etc. In other words, “love of the world”. If you find yourself longing for something more, something deeper, something real, then this quality is operative in you and you simply need to honor it. If you do not feel a longing for completion, why are you reading this? This flame of longing for Reality, Truth & Wholeness is the field that contains the ‘pearl of great value’. Be ready to ’sell everything else’ to buy it. Allow it to be your guide. Express it through your actions and endeavors.
Basic Trust, Faith, Courage
Transformation is change. Genuine Awakening involves changes on all levels of our lives. Weathering the insecurities & turmoil of a constantly changing sense of self and our perception of the world requires some kind of anchor or stabilizing influence. We must find a resource within to get through the storms of emotional turbulence, mental confusion and possibly disconcerting energetic releases. If we lack this quality, what can we do?
Boiled down and simplified? Turn Around! Almost every human directs most of their energy towards resisting or avoiding painful feelings or situations and seeking secure or ‘pleasurable’ ones. One thing most haven’t tried is to Stop Resisting! Accept Chaos. Open up to and fully experience negativity and darkness. On the other side of chaos is a new level of peace. Too radical?
OK, more compassionately, Are you stuck in a place where you value security and stability? Is it blocking your ability to seek Truth or accept what is Real? You probably need to do some work on healing your wounded child, desensitizing your narcissistic reactivity & neediness. The ‘holding environment’ you experienced as a very young child has a lot to do with how well you can trust the universe to sustain you. All types of Emotional Clearing work can help you gain more trust. You could find a spiritual teacher you can totally trust and allow that person to guide you through periods of turmoil. There are lots of Emotional Healing modalities that are practiced by therapists.
Rejuvination
Tired? At some point in your journey you may find yourself saying: “Enough already!” Or, “I need a rest”. I think this is to be expected and may be related to the need to gather more energy (see below). But it could also be complacency or indulgence. Cultivating the Love of Truth or the Urge to Wholeness may serve to wake you out of an unconscious indulgent sleepiness. If you find yourself becoming spiritually lazy, using Inquiry & Radical Honesty can help. (see below) Seeing the truth about our motivations will set us free. The less resistance, the sooner it can work.
Energy & Stamina
In the ‘Teachings of Don Juan’, Carlos Castaneda?s mentor told him that a warrior’s most important task early on is the gathering of power (energy). This can be done in many ways on a few different levels. Basically, I see four main categories:
1. Physical (the body). Hatha Yoga is a first rate method. Aerobics can help a lot to increase endorphins.
2. Mental (contemplative). You gain mental energy or power when your conflicting beliefs are resolved. Mindfulness practice reduces chaos.
3. Emotional / Energetic. Emotional clearing (again) Practices like Tai Chi & Reiki etc. harmonise your energy system.
4. Spiritual. Spiritual ‘energy’ is transformative energy itself. When you rest fully in the Ground of Being or Stillness (as in deep meditation) the process of evolutionary transformation is taken to a new level.
Support & Confirmation
If you were going to jump off a cliff into unknown waters wouldn’t you want to be able to speak to someone who has already jumped off that cliff? For years I languished at the edge of this cliff feeling alienated from the world, but not knowing how, or feeling able to move on. One day I met someone who was ready to leap as well and immediately we were both launched into a rapid series of transformational experiences… I don’t think it would have been possible without the mutual support we gave to each other.
I urge you to hook up with others on the Journey, and to share your experiences. It could make all the difference to someone at a critical time. The Course In Miracles says, “To have peace, give peace”… and we can extrapolate… to have Love, give Love. To have a friend, be a friend. To get support, give support.
You do not have to feel you are far advanced to reach out and give support or information or just a loving acceptance or embrace. Just as importantly, someone who is new to the Path or even a child can reveal an enlightening truth at any time. Out of the mouths of babes… It is spiritual pride to close yourself off from the possibility of seeing Truth in anything and everything.
Inquisitiveness & Radical Honesty
Develop the ability to question everything. Bring every motive and avoidance of reality to the light of truth in a radically honest way. Learn to face life with open arms and open eyes. This will rapidly change your perception of the world and yourself. Deep contemplative inquiry allows us to discover and dismantle our story and our programs or patterns. Questioning works especially well on belief systems that we have adopted through our cultural / social conditioning.
